Mavericks Suffer Hard Loss to Kinkaid

The Maverick field hockey team took one on the chin today against a tough Falcon team.  The Falcons struck early, scoring in the fifth minute as the Mavericks had a difficult time clearing the ball from their defensive end.  After the goal, the mavericks settled in and controlled much of the remaining 25' of the first half, missing on some close tying-goal opportunities.  After the half, play remained even for several minutes before Kinkaid was able to dominate play in the final 20 minutes.  The Falcons were able to capitalize 3 times on lose balls near the goal that they were able to force through, one off an offensive corner.  The Mavericks play their second best-of-3 counter match against Kinkaid next Tuesday at home, where they will look for revenge and to even the game count.  Before then, the team plays its next South Zone counter against St. Mary's Hall at home at 3:00 Friday
