With a small roster this weekend, the Rebels went to Deer Park for the Lutheran South invitational and posted several quality racing and field event performances. Stand outs for the Rebels included a first place finish in the 2 mile for Sophomore runner Melissa Hulme, a second place vault for Senior Elizabeth King, and a third place long jump for Junior, Danielle Magee. Hulme ran a relentless pace in this her first 3200m track race ever. She crossed the tape w/ no competition in sight at 11:39! An outstanding beginning mark for the 2003 Cross Country SPC individual Champion. King, in this her third season working w/ vault coach Richie Mercado, tied the winning mark w/ 7'0''! King finished in second due to earlier vault attemps to break the tie. King finished first among SPC competition. Danielle Magee jumped 15'3 & 1/2" to earn third for the Rebels. She too was first among SPC rivals kinkaid and Episcopal. Relay teams also peformed well for the Rebels this weekend. The 3200 m team of Melissa Hulme, Brittany Hodgson, Yijing Sun, and Sarah Daniel finished 3rd. A third place peformance was also posted in the 400 m relay. The team of Courtney Miller, Lizzie Thomas, Caroline Dougherty and Jackie Keller captured the third slot with a time of 53.82 ahead of rival KHS. Other point scorers for the Rebels included Miller in the 100m (6th), Freshman Julia Hester in the 100m hurdles (8th), Jackie Keller, Elizabeth King, Courtney Dietler, Danielle Magee in the 800m relay (5th); Grace Wessels, Julia Hester, Sophia Golvach and Jackie Keller in the 1600m relay (6th), Amy Fish in the 3200 (5th), Allison Bailey in the 3200 (7th), Christine Wright in the discus (8th), Danielle Magee in the high jump (5th), and Sophia Golvach in the long jump (8th) and triple jump (7th).
