St. John’s School is seeking a talented and knowledgeable Director of Curriculum and Instruction. The director, in partnership with division heads, oversees the school’s initiatives related to K-12 curriculum development and coordination, as well as faculty professional development and evaluation. This position demands strong teaching and leadership experience and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of colleagues across all three divisions of the School. The director works in tandem with divisional leaders and reports to the Associate Head of School. In addition to relevant experience and a strong educational background, successful candidates must demonstrate a collaborative approach and a commitment to furthering the School’s Mission, including its strategic initiatives on community and inclusion.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Act as an educational catalyst for best instructional practices, guiding conversations around teaching and learning and coordinating professional development efforts across the school
● Partner with division heads to support institutional goals and division-specific initiatives in instruction and curriculum alignment
● Supervise curriculum integrity, alignment, and articulation across all three divisions of the school
● Oversee the school’s Professional Growth and Evaluation (PGE) program
○ Coordinate with divisional leadership to administer and oversee components of
the PGE system
○ Regularly observe classes across the school
● Manage the Endowed Chair and Master Teacher program
● Chair the school’s K-12 Academic Council, comprised of department chairs and division leaders
● Supervise the school’s departmental audit process
● Model a learner’s mindset and professional practice by teaching one class each year
Qualifications:
● Master’s degree
● 7-10 years of teaching and leadership experience; supervisory experience preferred
● Personal and professional commitment to developing one’s cultural competency in a
community that celebrates and appreciates diversity.
