Upper/Middle School Visual Arts Teacher (starting August 2025)

St. John’s School is seeking a full-time Visual Arts teacher. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with upper and middle school students (grades 6-12). Visual Art teachers at St. John’s work together to create a cohesive curriculum. In addition to relevant experience and a strong educational background, successful candidates must demonstrate a collaborative spirit and a commitment to furthering the School’s mission, including its strategic initiatives on community and inclusion.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Teach a variety of Visual Arts courses in Upper and Middle School
  • Serve as an advisor 
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Dark Room Photography, Digital Photography, Studio 2D Art, 3D Art and/or Digital Media

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art/Art Education;  Master’s or Master of Fine Arts in Art, Studio Art, or Art Education with graduate hours in the teaching specialty preferred 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of classroom teaching experience
  • Experience teaching a variety of art forms (painting, sculpture, metals, printmaking, photography, film, digital art) a plus
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
