  • Dr. Emily Wang '93

    A St. John’s Class of 1993 graduate and MacArthur Fellow, Dr. Emily Wang has been investigating and researching the harmful effect incarceration has on “people’s health while also working to improve the health outcomes of those currently in our prison system.” Dr. Wang is a professor at Yale University and directs the SEICHE Center for Health and Justice. The SEICHE Center is a collaboration between the Yale School of Medicine and Yale Law School focusing on understanding and addressing the extensive public health harms of mass incarceration through clinical care, research, education, and legal scholarship and advocacy. Dr. Wang leads the Center’s Health Justice Lab investigating how incarceration influences chronic health conditions, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and opioid use disorder.

  • Emma Erwin '11

    After her 13-year run at St. John's, Emma went on to Middlebury College—a small liberal arts school in Vermont—to play D-III field hockey and pursue an education in physics and mathematics. Her work centered around atomic physics, where she spent her time trapping clouds of atoms in magneto-optical chambers and taking measurements with lasers. But in the meantime, the majority of her free time was spent outside–running and hiking in the green mountains of Vermont, white mountains of New Hampshire, and Adirondacks in New York.

  • H. Grant Thomas, Jr. '63

    For over 55 years, Grant Thomas `63 has been positively impacting the lives of young people. Taking lessons learned from years of teaching in the classroom, Grant has established a multitude of peer-based programs that provide support, learning, and connection to literally thousands of students throughout the City of Austin and the State of Texas.

  • Katherine Y. King '92

    Dr. Katherine Y. King is an Associate Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Baylor College of medicine. She studied biochemical sciences at Harvard University and then completed a dual-degree program at Washington University in St. Louis where she earned both her M.D. and Ph.D. over the course of seven years. She returned to Houston to complete her residency and fellowship at Baylor. In addition to her research, she is also a co-founder and serves on the advi¬sory board of Doctors For Change (https://doctorsforchange.org/), a nonprofit that seeks “to increase access to care and improve the health of all Houstonians and all Texans through research, education, collaboration, and advocacy.”

  • Zachary Heinzerling '02

    Zachary began his career at HBO as a production assistant. He quickly worked his way up the ranks on four consecutive Emmy Award-winning documentaries and the Emmy Award-winning series 24/7, working as a field producer and cinematographer. In 2012, he left HBO to complete his feature debut, the multi-award-winning film, Cutie and the Boxer, which he both directed and shot.

  • Christy Haubegger ’86

    Christy is an Agent at Creative Artists Agency (CAA), a leading entertainment and sports agency with offices in Los Angeles, New York, London, Nashville, and Beijing, where she provides insights on diverse markets to the agency’s clients and buyers. She is based in the Los Angeles office, and works closely with such clients as Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Andy Garcia, and America Ferrera, among others. Christy gave the commencement address during St. John’s School’s 2018 Commencement ceremony.

  • Rakesh Agrawal ’93

    Rakesh Agrawal ’93 is living the SnapStream dream. As the founder and CEO of his Houston-based software company, he and his team get paid to watch TV – and they love it. Commonly referred to as a “DVR on steroids,” SnapStream is a TV-search software that can record over 10 TV channels per appliance. Users can then search all of their recordings at once to find one specific clip, highlight, or quote. SnapStream is how hundreds of organizations, including The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Buzzfeed, Politico, and the U.S. Senate, record TV and create TV clips.
